Ever been offered the opportunity to finance a hamburger? When he lived in Chile, newcomer to MDB Ammon Beckstrom was asked by the McDonald’s order taker, “¿Cuantas cuotas?” It took a moment for it to register what he was being offered — the opportunity to finance his hamburger at 24.99% interest for a period of up to six months.
As odd as it sounds, Ammon asks in his blog, Slightly Insightful, if our culture is really that different when it comes to buying things we don’t need with money we don’t have.
Ammon served his mission in Venezuela, and has lived in such diverse places as Singapore and Chile. He now makes his home in Houston, Texas, with his wife of 13 years and his three kids. He works in IT for a global mining company.
